Suppression

Safe Streets Task Force

The Safe Streets Task Force is a small unit of the Vancouver Police Department partnering with the Safe Communities Task Force to directly counter and prevent gang violence. For more information, visit http://www.cityofvancouver.us/police/page/safe-streets-task-force-gang-unit
The OJJDP Gang Prevention and Intervention model refers to suppression as involving both formal and informal social control procedures, including close supervision or monitoring of gang youth by agencies of the criminal justice system and also by community-based agencies, schools, and grassroots groups.
